Tim McHyde, of EscapeAllTheseThings.com, provided a valuable insight in a recent article regarding the nature and extent of the great earthquakes which Yeshua prophesied would happen as part of "the beginning of birth pains" at the End of the Age (Matthew 24:3-13).
Earthquakes in Various Places OR Everywhere at Once?
In short, what Tim found was this:
Most Greek > English translations read like the following:
Matthew 24:7-8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines, and earthquakes in various places. All these events are the beginning of birth pains.
Some Hebrew manuscripts translated into English read like this:
Matthew 24:7-8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines, and earthquakes in every place. All these events are the beginning of birth pains.
This is an important revelation because it indicates we can expect Great Earthquakes (more than just one) to be felt all around the world at ONCE... in the very earliest stages of the Great Tribulation at the End of the Age.
Consider the geo-political ramifications of an earthquake (on the scale of 9.0 or more) hitting the entire Earth in one massive blow. And then consider it hitting more than JUST once. Undoubtedly, kings and governmental systems of great nations may cease to exist and/or lose complete control of their populations... and the survivors will be looking for spectacular and compelling leadership to survive the following chaos, but who will they turn to?
