Isaiah 63:11-13
11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses
Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock?
Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them,
12 Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses,
Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,
13 Who led them through the depths?
Growing up within the Christian world, you were likely taught that anicent Israel didn't have the "Holy Spirit" and that is why they couldn't keep the commandments and thus broke their covenant.... BUT, now... "the Church" has the Holy Ghost and yet... doesn't need to keep the commandments.
In Hebraic hindsight, those doctrinal concepts not only seems illogical, they also appear to come from an entirely different spirit, the spirit of lawlessness.
Apparently, even with the Set-apart Spirit, ancient Israel still stiffened their necks and hardened their hearts. Not-so-ironically, the modern day Church (who is represented primarily by descendants of 10-Israelites) is also incredibly bullheaded and swift to walk in darkness, despising the Light of the Torah.
The Church hasn't replaced Israel. No. The Church people are Israel and they haven't changed much.
In their midst or In their heart?
It is true that the Spirit of Yah is going to put His Torah in our minds and write it on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:31-34), but this does not mean He did not provide His Spirit for help in antiquity. And it does not mean Christians really have something unique currently. Jeremiah 31, from where the "new covenant" concept finds its origin within Christianity, is yet a future marriage event (Revelation 19:7-9) where we will be transformed in many ways. For example, we will not need a Teacher or a Rabbi or a Priest to lead us in the Ways of Wisdom any more. You won't look to website likes this for oil of understanding. No, Yah will be the One who will fill your Lamp and my Lamp.
Shalom mishpocha,
Hanok
