Commnet: Incorrect Josephus quote??

E-mail Print
I am not a follower of anybody. I am simply a Bible student, seeking to know the truth, so I am not trying to be "against you" in making the following comment. I noticed, when looking up your quote in my own copy of Josephus (translated by William Whiston, Kregel Publications) It simply says: "...and such was the end of the nation of the Hebrews, as it hath been delivered down to us, it having twice gone beyond the Euphrates; for the people of the ten tribes were carrid out of Samaria by the Assyrians in the days of king Hoshea....Now as to Shalmanezer, he removed the Israelites out of their country...." That is ALL it says about the ten northern tribes and their removal. It does not mention that there were great numbers of them, as your quote says. Perhaps the subsource you are quoting from is faulty, unless this man's translation, although from the popular book I have, found in bookstores, is faulty. Please look into this matter! Thank you....
