Will Eliyahu know he is the prophesied Eliyahu?

If John the Baptist was Eliyahu/Elijah (Matthew 17:10-14), but didn't know he was Eliyahu (John 1:21)... then is it possible that the future Eliyahu will be unaware that he is Eliyahu?

If the prophesied Eliyahu (Malachi 4:5) is the same and original Eliyahu who first existed, then of course he would know he is himself (chuckling).

If the prophesied Eliyahu is another person (like John the Baptist was) who is coming in the Spirit of Eliyahu, then is it possible he wouldn't know he is THE prophesied one when he comes?

Just thinking... questioning out-loud. And getting somewhat weary of receiving emails and comments from individuals who think they are or personally know THE Eliyahu... or who think they are one of THE two witnesses of Revelation. The arrogance and egotism of mankind... is truly... well... truly arrogant and egotistical.

No Eliyahu-delusions here. A small little man... signing off... but ever-watching for the real-deal,
Hanok

  1. have a feeling, however not Biblically based, that the FP will be mis understood for the real EliYahu! Great question to ask oneself!

  2. Oh, I think you’re absolutely correct. The false prophet will be a profoundly effective counterfeit of Eliyahu… who will prepare the way for the false messiah. He’ll likely be the primary impetus for the “restoring” of all the Protestants to the Vatican… which seems to be underway already.

  3. Has anyone ever considered that God could use a woman (or perhaps 2 women) to fulfill the role of the two witnesses? Not something any of us would be expecting for sure, but shouldn’t we be open to the possibility?

  4. Certainly, in a figurative sense… Jew-dah and 10-Israel may be a large element of who the two witnesses are… and both houses have been likened to daughters… such as in Jeremiah 3, which may be partially why the 144,000 sealed are called maidens. The corporate assembly as a whole is frequently alluded to as a woman.

BUT… on a literal individual level, there is little biblical precedent for a woman to fulfill such a role. Moshe and Aaron are a foreshadowing of the two witnesses. Yeshua transfigured with Moshe and Eliyahu is a picture of the two witnesses. Yeshua sending the ‘male’ disciples out in twos is an example. Why does the Tanakh focus on the twelve sons of Jacob? What does the NT focus on the twelve male disciples? Does Yah have gender-bias? Or does Yah have a special design that our politically correct world doesn’t want to understand?

Feel free to consider the possibility of the two being literal women, but I have much doubt. Not because women would be incapable, but because of the historical precedents of how Yah has generally done things.

Just my two half-shekels… I could be wrong. =)

  5. Just thinking here, about the “what @ a woman???” question. ((Josiah on January 26th, 2010 9:23 pm ))

I am remembering the passage that says:
“And there shall be in those days, something that has never been seen before: a woman shall encompass a man.” (This may not be an EXACT quote, but the idea is one that has caused many hours of research…to understand what it means….what IF this is what it means? That in the last days YHVH does something totally unexpected, and women walk in callings that have been historically associated with the men. (??)

Not being a proponent here for anything unprecedented, but also one who senses that with Yah, anything is possible!!

This is the first day I have seen your site, and I am thoroughly impressed.

Continue to march…orders will no doubt begin to be heard fairly soon. Wash the windows of your lamp, and clean your ears so you can hear. Whatever the future holds, it is now that we need to be prepared, because it looks like “tomorrow” is becoming “today” very very soon!

May Abba teach us all to Hear and Do–quickly.
    Shalom!!

  6. mmm missed a typo…*thoroughly*…(hope THIS one is right!! ;^)

  7. I fixed it for ya! (=
