Were the 10-Tribes of Israel ever really “LOST”? (Part-1)

The story of Joseph’s slavery and rise to power in Mitsrayim (Egypt) is both historic and prophetic. It was prophetic because it foretold what would happen in the life of the House of Joseph long after Joseph himself had passed away.

One of our first clues that the House of Joseph (10-Israel) would be “LOST” or forgotten is by the mere fact that Jacob, Joseph’s father, thought Joseph had been killed (Genesis 37:33). Jacob didn’t forget Joseph, but he of course grieved terribly and for many years after losing (in his mind) his intended heir.

Our second clue that the House of Joseph (10-Israel) would forget himself is from the name Joseph gave his son Menashe (Manasseh/Strong’s H5382) “causing to forget”. Notice in the following passage how Joseph’s first son is about “forgetting” and his second son is all about “multiplication”, indicating what sequence things would ultimately occur in the future.

Genesis 41:51-52:
51 And Yoseph called the name of the first-born Menashsheh, “For Elohim has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.
52 And the name of the second he called Ephrayim, “For Elohim has caused me to bear fruit in the land of my affliction.”

Our third clue that the House of Joseph would be forgotten is by the way Joseph’s brothers didn’t recognize Joseph in his Egyptian attire when they came to him during the famine.

Genesis 42:7-8:
7 And Yoseph saw his brothers and recognised them, but he acted as a stranger to them and spoke to them harshly, and said to them, “Where do you come from?” And they said, “From the land of Kena’an to buy food.”
8 So Yoseph recognised his brothers, but they did not recognise him.

Many secular and religious researchers have tried to find the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel by looking for a few bread crumbs of “Jewishness” carried by peoples they suspect are descendant of 10-Israel, but these researchers forget that 10-Israel was first of all exiled because they began looking like and mixing with their pagan neighbors. They didn’t look like “Judah” then and they certainly don’t look like “Judah” now. They currently look just like everyone else in proverbial Egypt, and they have become a great multitude, just as the Prophets indicated they would.
