Lessons from the mountain-side
Here is a quick lesson I learned from today's climb in the mountains:
Never trust your hands or feet to anything dead or anything alive which is growing in shallow soil (think dead trees, branches, and roots) ...especially when traversing dangerous cliffs.
We can probably apply that lesson to many practical day-to-day and spiritual matters... and could help save us from needless suffering (or death in some instances). For example, there are many people out there who appear to be alive, but on the inside, they are rotten and full of death. Going to one of those individuals for counsel and support could be a very dangerous endeavor. Instead go to someone who is UPRIGHT, strong, and alive... who walks in the LIGHT, strength, and spirit of Torah. Their wise-counsel will steady our hands and feet! =)
