Brotherhood runs deeper than Creeds
Brotherhood (or true family) is something that "should" run deeper than religious Creeds and Doctrines... to some extent. For example, I don't think I know any two people in the Messy-antic or Hebrew-Roots movement who agree on every point of belief and practice, nor do I believe we have to agree on every single thing to fellowship and walk together. Often disagreements are more semantic-based than on real substance... and working through those issues makes the journey together more interesting and rewarding (if we're willing to face the differences or talk about semantics). Even married couples can attest to that reality I think.
So... that being said, I finally created my own "Statement of Faith" because I know some people have been curious... but more importantly... it was a good individual effort (for me personally) even if no one ever looks at it or cares. =)
It is not short and concise... so beware. It is more an explosion of random beliefs I find most important. My beliefs (and practices) have certainly changed over the last 20 years... and I suspect they will change even more in the next 20 (especially if Jeremiah 31:31-34 occurs within that period).
Feel free to reuse it, cut, copy, slice, and tweak!
And as always, I'm open to comments, suggestions, and "constructive" criticism (even the kind that feels destructive... initially).
