Did the Twelve Tribes of Israel really exist? Are the scattered groups of modern Jews really the direct descendants of the ancient Hebrews of the Bible? Rabbi Yaakov Kleiman, author of DNA & the Bible: The Genetic Link.
In this radio interview, author Yaakov Kleiman talks about:
- His new book DNA & the Bible: The Genetic Link and compares it to his previous book DNA and Tradition: The Genetic Link to the Ancient Hebrews
- The basics of how the DNA tests work.
- How FamilyTreeDNA can be used to to be tested for Jewish Ancestry.
- How the DNA findings in regards to the Levites (Priests/Cohanim) is more significant than what is found in the general Jewish population (because of non-Jews converting to Judaism).
- How Jewish DNA actually debunks the anti-Jewish Khazar propaganda.
- How the Jewish DNA question does not have a perfect black and white answer.
- How DNA can be used for Jewish conversion and aliyah (migration to Israel).
- How the Pathan of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India may be Israelite.
- How the black Lemba of southern Africa have the Cohen Modal Haplotype present in their population and "may" have some validity to their Jewish origin claims.
Hanok's comments:
In my view (although I enjoyed most of the interview), this is just more stumbling over the breadcrumbs and missing the whole loaf. Or the classic, "can't see the forest for the trees" phenomenon.
Once... just once... I wish we could hear a reasonable discussion about the mathematics of human population growth in association with the genetic evidence (see my article: Exponential Human Population Growth).
Basically, this interview is more proof that Jew-dah is still largely blind to Ephraim's enormous and overwhelming genetic presence in many well-known populations around the world, not just the Pathan/Pashtun people in and around Afghanistan (who by the way largely have a shared common ancestor with most Indo-Europeans, i.e. y-Hg R).
Kleiman indicates our genetic mutations happen at a "known" period of time in order to estimate how many generations there are between two individuals and a common ancestor, which is the general premise behind the Cohen Modal Haplotype (the Levite priestly gene). This "known" period of time is largely given to us by scientists who are wholly sold out to the primary axiom of Darwinian thought and they are constantly under-estimating how quickly our DNA has been mutating... and thus we are given extremely inflated haplogroup origination time-frames.
Kleiman discredits the Lemba from being Jewish because they have married so many non-Jewish women. Being a Jewish Rabbi, he of course is using Jewish Halakha to trump the plain Written Torah precedents where the male line has most always been the definitive question... not just within the Levitical clans. Furthermore, Moses himself married a dark-skinned Cushite (black) woman who was NOT "Jewish". Judah, himself, married a non-Jewish woman. Joseph married a non-Hebrew woman. Discrediting the Lemba based upon Jewish Halakha is a disgrace in my view... but I'm not a "great one"... so who cares what I think.
Please forgive my sarcasm. My Karaite tendencies spontaneously erupt when confronted with man-made religious systems.
Pointing out the Ephraimite trees, loaves, and fishies,

Note: Tovia Singer is a renown anti-missionary (in the sense that he actively confronts Christian missionaries). I do not support him in those efforts. Personally, I would rather he just be a Light and teach Torah to Christians (who are largely of Ephraimite origin) which he does do... although somewhat indirectly I suppose.

Shalom Brother Hanok!
Greetings again! =)
I, like you, can not wait till the wool is pulled from their eyes and they FINALLY accept Us for who we are. Just as in the story of Joseph and Yeshua’s parable of The Prodical Son!
Soon and VERY soon this will happen. The Exile is over and the time when Judah opens their eyes and accepts us is /will be Upon us!
I know its hard to be positive about things pertaining to their blindness but be comfoted brother! Yah and the prophets spoke of this happening as well as in Genesis.
I am so thankful today as these words would not be coming out of my mouth if it were not for the Holy Spirit guiding me! Both here and abroad!
Shalom Hanok!
