Asteroid Threats: A Call for Global Response

Experts call for global network to prevent asteroid disasters (Breitbart)

Part of me thinks this call (coming from the experts) is going out just to remove their guilt of having sent out no warning to the masses before something they already know and see is coming actually arrives. They are saying it "should be possible to predict a collision up to 15 years before it occurs", but go on to say we don't have the technology to prevent it even if we can predict it.

If it weren't for the shear horror of what is coming, I'd find the timing of these 'calls' for action to be rather comical. But what is coming isn't at all funny. The fictional success of the movie Armageddon will be incomprehensible in comparison.
