Israel has asked an Indian geneticist to study the link between the Indian Pathans tribe and certain tribes of Israel, the Times of India reported this week.
Geneticist Shahnaz Ali has been asked to study the link between the Afridi Pathans, based in the Lucknow region of India, and certain tribes of Israel who migrated across Asia thousands of years ago.
Ali is based in Haifa where she is working in collaboration with Israel's prestigious university the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

January 22, 2010Today marks the 37th anniversary of the infamous US Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision, which, in effect, legalized abortion-on-demand nationwide. The aftermath of this tragic ruling is the deaths of over 40 million (a very conservative number) innocent unborn babies. It is no hyperbole to say abortion is America's holocaust. Think of it, every American citizen today, 37 years old or younger, has never known a country that respected and protected innocent human life in the womb. Put it another way: when Hitler's Third Reich was at its zenith, the abortion rate was 40%. In 2003 (the last year that I checked), the abortion rate of the county in which I live was 39%. And I live in the heart of the so-called "Bible Belt." In fact, statistically speaking, the most dangerous place to be in America is not in an automobile without wearing a seat belt, or in a commercial airliner with a potential terrorist on board. Statistically speaking, the most dangerous place to be is in the womb of one's mother.
Dr. Bernard Nathanson once headed America's largest abortion clinic in New York City. He admitted superintending over the killing of 75,000 unborn babies. He later recanted his pro-abortion activity and wrote what may be the quintessential book defending an unborn child's right to life, "Aborting America." Dr. Nathanson said, "There is no longer serious doubt in my mind that human life exists within the womb from the very onset of pregnancy."

Will Eliyahu know he is the prophesied Eliyahu?
If John the Baptist was Eliyahu/Elijah (Matthew 17:10-14), but didn't know he was Eliyahu (John 1:21)... then is it possible that the future Eliyahu will be unaware that he is Eliyahu?
If the prophesied Eliyahu (Malachi 4:5) is the same and original Eliyahu who first existed, then of course he would know he is himself (chuckling).
If the prophesied Eliyahu is another person (like John the Baptist was) who is coming in the Spirit of Eliyahu, then is it possible he wouldn't know he is THE prophesied one when he comes?
Just thinking... questioning out-loud. And getting somewhat weary of receiving emails and comments from individuals who think they are or personally know THE Eliyahu... or who think they are one of THE two witnesses of Revelation. The arrogance and egotism of mankind... is truly... well... truly arrogant and egotistical.
No Eliyahu-delusions here. A small little man... signing off... but ever-watching for the real-deal,

A couple of the variables in the Parable of the 10 Virgins (Matthew 25) have often perplexed me. Maybe I'm complicating things too much, but I still ponder what the "oil" represents specifically... although Eddie has certainly elaborated on the subject better than any other I've heard up to this point.

new covenant/old covenant – one biased mess
My wife shared the following article with me today. We found it full of very insightful questions... and enjoy Chad's conversational writing style.

so when this new covenant comes - it will be different in that his people will have the law written on their hearts - there will be no need to teach everyone about God because all will know him and their sins will be remembered no more. has this happend yet is the question you need to ask yourself. the writer of hebrews was still using the future tense to describe the old going away. is the law written on your heart? do we still have need of teachers to teach us about the LORD? do all men know God from the least to the greatest? maybe we got a new law sometime after the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. a new law based on love that has no requirements? but what about all the times God uses the term forever - eternal decree - perpetual ordinace to describe these burdensome rules regarding the sabbath - dietary restrictions - sexaul laws - and many others. how could God tell them forever and then change it? a question for another page.
one other interesting bias we have with this passage. who is God making the new covenant with? the scriptures say judah and israel. where are the gentiles mentioned? seemingly the new covenant is with judah and israel only? just a thought for another day. if you are biased toward the new covenant christianity has handed down to us then you just can bypass the above an assume all is well. i leave you with a side thought. many preachers also use the prophet ezekiel to back the new covenant/new heart/new spirit logic. they use sound bytes to back up their unimpeachable doctrine. ezekiel 11 is one example.
Thankful to find I'm not the only one reluctant to believe we could possibly be under a "new covenant" YET. Chad doesn't speak of the future covenant in the context of a marriage covenant (which by the way... hasn't been renewed yet), but he gives other very insightful reasons as to why it couldn't be in operation already.

Should we fear Genealogy-based DNA testing?
Many of my own family and friends have expressed suspicion, anxiety, and/or fear regarding genealogy-based DNA testing that has become available over the last decade. Americans in particular have a great deal of lingering animosity toward what is perceived as "Big Brother" or fascist statism that is ever-growing around the world. Whether or not those fears of Big Brother are truly legitimate at this time, is a question we all have to come to terms with individually. Granted, it wasn't long ago that Hitler and his regime (one of the ugliest Big Brothers the world has ever known) used "science" (eugenics) as a confirming justification to exterminate millions of Jews, Slavs, and Romani (Gypsies) peoples. There is no denying the reality... that legitimate and horrible dangers from even a "civilized" people can explode onto the world scene.
